A Modern Fortress Entrance in Sapele Mahogany & Rustic Cedar

The Vision: Our clients sought a truly one-of-a-kind, solid wood entrance to complement the dramatic, castle-like stonework of their home. Inspired by medieval architecture, they presented reference images of historic doors and heavy-forged hardware to serve as the foundation for the design.

The Craftsmanship: After exploring various lumber species, we selected a strategic combination of Sapele Mahogany and Rustic Cedar.

• Sapele Mahogany provided the structural "heaviness" and rich, dark grain required for a grand entrance.

• Rustic Cedar was integrated for its warm, nostalgic tones and textured character, creating a beautiful contrast.

The Fine Details:

• Architectural Balance: We incorporated custom curves into the top and center rails to soften the door’s massive profile and provide a more elegant visual balance.

• Function & Security: A built-in viewing window was added to invite natural light into the foyer while enhancing safety and visibility for the homeowners.

• Hardware Integration: The wood tones were specifically chosen to highlight the client’s wrought iron hardware, completing the timeless, "old-world" aesthetic.
