Project Spotlight: The Architectural Privacy Sliders
Custom Maple & Frosted Acrylic Sliding System
The Vision: In a dual-purpose guest room and office, space is at a premium. The client needed a closet solution that provided full access without the "swing-out" footprint of traditional doors, which would have intruded into the workspace. Additionally, the doors needed to conceal a variety of stored items while contributing to a bright, open, and professional atmosphere.
The Craftsmanship: We engineered these sliding doors using solid Maple frames for maximum structural rigidity—essential for doors of this height. To achieve the "light and airy" look the client desired, we integrated translucent frosted acrylic panels with a custom screen-design overlay. This combination offers the sophisticated look of a Japanese Shoji screen with the durability of modern materials.
The Fine Details:
Space-Saving Functionality: The sliding track system allows the doors to glide effortlessly within the plane of the wall, preserving every square inch of floor space for office furniture and guest movement.
Smart Concealment: The frosted acrylic panels act as a "visual filter," effectively disguising closet clutter while still allowing light to pass through. This prevents the doors from feeling like a heavy "wall" and instead makes the room feel larger.
Vertical Elegance: By designing the doors to be taller than standard interior openings, we drew the eye upward, creating the illusion of higher ceilings and transforming a standard closet into an elegant architectural feature.
