Project Spotlight: The English Manor Kitchen
A Grand-Scale Transformation of Elegance, Tradition, and Function
The Vision: This "English Style" kitchen was realized through a massive collaborative effort between the homeowner, the designer, three contractors, and our specialized team. By relocating the kitchen from a confined room into this expansive, high-ceilinged space, we were able to create a picturesque sanctuary that balances traditional "Old World" functionality with the clean, sophisticated lines of modern design.
The Craftsmanship: To capture the authentic English aesthetic, we focused on "furniture-style" cabinetry. The outer perimeter is finished in a soft, warm beige—designed to catch the light and keep the room feeling airy—while the central island is finished in a deep, anchored blue. This "weighted" color choice provides a whimsical yet grounded focal point that invites guests to gather.
The Fine Details:
Hutch-Style Upper Storage: Moving away from standard closed cabinets, we utilized classy, open-hutch shelving that provides easy access to everyday items while acting as a display for the client's collection.
The Command Island: The oversized central island serves as the kitchen's engine, housing a deep sink, integrated dishwasher, and concealed waste bins, all while providing a spacious seating area for casual entertaining.
The "Morning Sanctuary" Butler’s Pantry: Tucked discreetly behind the main cooking area, we designed a matching butler’s pantry. This secondary space mirrors the main kitchen’s beadboard backing and color palette, serving as a quiet coffee station and prep area.
Designer Hardware & Flooring: We tied the entire space together with polished brass hardware for a touch of refined luxury, contrasted against the historic warmth of the original hardwood floors.
Integrated Beverage Bar: Nestled between the windows, a stylish bar area features its own dedicated plumbing, lighting, and storage, making it the perfect transition point for entertaining guests.
